About Us

I currently own and operate Blazing Trails K9 Academy, a dog training company in Lancaster, California (though we cover Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, and many surrounding areas). Since 1985 I have worked in a variety of dog training settings…head trainer for a full service dog salon and training facility, senior trainer for another training facility, continuing education representative for what was at the time the largest dog training company in the US, studio animal trainer (where I worked with dogs for commercials, television, and print ads), and I worked with exotic animals (including wolves, hoof stock, birds of prey, etc) at Six Flags.

I am a certified dog trainer through the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP CDT) and have trained thousands of dogs of various ages, breeds, sizes and temperaments. I currently specialize in aggressive behavior in dogs. 

I have dabbled in various dog sports, my favorite is currently schutzhund. I compete with 2 shepherds in schutzhund (an adult and a pup in training) and I am working with another in SDA (UKC’s working dog sport). I am a member of DHPK (schutzhund club), Schutzhund USA, IACP, APDT (Association of Pet dog Trainers), and I am president and one of the founding members for our local SDA club (AV Dog Sport Association).

I have a great love and respect for all dogs, and I love helping people with their dogs. Because I’ve been around for awhile, I have thoughts on most things “dog” and thought I’d start this blog to share some of those thoughts.
